Our world needs every one of us to lead in some way no matter how big or small we choose to play. You don’t have to be THE leader to be a leader. All you have to do is take action to make a difference in something you care about.
Consider this…as long as we keep looking to others for leadership we miss opportunities to create the world we want and the life we want. As long as we think of leadership in it’s most lofty expression we dismiss the simple acts that can make a big difference in our lives and the lives of others. Each and every one of us does matter and can make a difference if we so choose. Anyone can commit an act of leadership. No action is too small or insignificant – it all matters.
I believe committing an act of leadership can be as simple as committing an act of kindness. I intend that this site be a source of inspiration, information and education for you to develop your own leadership and to inspire and develop leadership in others.
HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE

Thank you for this wonderful invitation. I am grateful for our Twitter connection.
I am inspired by you and your site at many levels and would like to share specifically what this inspiration has stimulated in me and share two of my acts of random leadership – one past and one current. In coming up with the current example less than one hour ago, I was reminded of the past.
Past Example
My Dad passed away several years ago. He was an introverted man, highly emotional, yet didn’t know how to express his emotions. I knew he was a very proud, silent supporter of me and my work. Out of gratitude to him and in his honor, I challenged myself to step up to demonstrate leadership and commitment to my own passion of finding ways to collaborate with consultant colleagues in the NY, NJ, CT area. I had not worked in the US, so I invited everyone I had met at networking meetings to come to my home and attend an Open Space Technology http://www.litglobal.com/capabilities/open.space.htm meeting on the topic of, What are our Highest Aspirations for Collaboration”. (This was five or so years ago and we were not so into social media at that time.) It was a step up to leadership for me, as it was my first formal Open Space and the first time I had facilitated in front of these peers. I felt I had lived up to my Dad’s dreams of me.
Current Example
Less than an hour ago, I was in the local supermarket car park. As I wheeled my cart back to my car, there was a plastic water bottle lying squashed on the path. My fleeting thoughts were judging of some irresponsible person leaving it there, as I wheeled around it. In a flash, I thought, you don’t like it, do something – show a “random act of leadership.” So I went back, picked it up and threw it in the trash bin. (Unfortunately, there was no recycling bin. )
What came up immediately for me was the desire to follow your example and invite people to share their stories of “Random Acts of Service”.
